Mark has been a Professional Associate (Member) of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 1995, having been awarded a Bachelor of Science in General Practice Surveying, in 1993 and subsequently ran his own professional surveying practice in central London, for 28 years, before relocating to the Cayman Islands in early 2023. Mark is also a RICS Registered Valuer. Since arriving in the Cayman Islands, Mark has gained experience in all aspect of valuation of both raw land and both residential & commercial property, throughout the Cayman Islands.

  • Preparation of mortgage / tax / probate / matrimonial valuation reports, condition reports, Homebuyer Reports (now L2) and Full Building Surveys (now L3)

  • Building Defect analysis, specializing in Listed Buildings
  • Property Management – for over 15 years managing property in Eaton Place, SW1, a building containing several luxury apartments, in one of London’s most exclusive addresses
  • Expert Witness & Single Joint Expert in numerous litigation cases, concerning disputes over property valuation and building defects
  • Commercial survey and valuation – advice to client’s on their commercial portfolio, rent review, dilapidations, acquisition and disposal
  • Planning, Landlord and Tenant negotiations, Project Management and Development – acting as Contract Administrator, professional consultant and / or Project Manager on numerous developments schemes, often involved from appraisal and design / planning application stage, through to completion, and also undertaken a number of property developments on his own behalf
  • Leasehold Reform Act work – Lease Extension / Enfranchisement, acting for both landlords and tenants, which has involved preparation and attending numerous Leasehold Valuation Tribunal* hearings (*now the 1st Tier Tribunal)
  • Party Wall Act – preparation of notices and schedules of condition, liaison with both Building Owners and Adjoining Owners / surveyors, negotiation and publication of Awards

Aside from property, Mark is a sports enthusiast, who played representative cricket and rugby at both county and divisional level in England, played county cricket for Hertfordshire CCC, went on several representative cricket tours for the MCC and also played club rugby for Saracens RFC. Nowadays, his leisure pastimes include scuba diving, golf and skiing.
